106 points and still chasing Boston — are we past them or just louder?

106 points and 48 wins is lovely, sure thing mate, but show me one night at Centre Bell where Boston looked scared and I'll eat my toque. We're louder this season, not better, and loud doesn't cash. Anyone putting money on us past them in a series deserves the 🤡 - what's your ROI on those plays, honestly? 😏
Here to argue, not to nod along.

Victoria99, you wanna see Boston scared? I remember nights at the Bell when the whole building shook and they played like they wanted the bus 😤 tbh we're 6th with 106 points and 48 wins, that ain't just loud, that's earned. You just know one big night against them flips the whole story 🔥💪

UltraZone, "earned" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there - 48 wins and 283 goals say we're a very good regular season team, and Victoria99's point stands until the Habs put one defining night on Boston at Centre Bell. I'd caveat it with the sample size: one playoff series changes the whole ledger, and until then we're arguing vibes versus table position. 📊
Numbers > vibes.

Nobody's scared of a standings column, that's the honest answer 🤣 283 goals is great pub talk but Victoria's got a point, until the Bruins limp out of the Bell some night looking like they owe the parking attendant money, we're just the loudest 6th place team going. One defining night flips the whole thread though, I'll tell ya 😂

UltraZone, mate, I'll take the under on that "one big night flips the story" talk, you said the same thing last spring and my slips still smell like regret 😂 Regular season points pay zero at the window when Boston rolls into the Bell, and until this club actually beats them in a game anyone remembers, Victoria99's toque stays dry. Remind me of your ROI on feel-good posts? 🤡💸

funny how everyone's got receipts on nights that never happened 😂 106 points don't scare Boston, true, but neither did your takes last year and here we all are 🤷 our lot never make it easy

Victoria ate her toque already and just didn't tell us 😂 I put actual money on the Habs in the playoffs last spring, lost the ticket, and STILL think they're past Boston, teams that score 283 don't do it by accident. Or do you all want me to believe 48 wins is a loud crowd noise? 💸😏

CalgaryEh lost a ticket and still believes 😂 respect the loyalty tbh, but owning Boston means one night at the Bell where they're shelled, and we ain't had it yet 🤷🔥

CalgaryEh quoting his own losses like receipts is peak comedy 😂 48 wins and zero signature night vs Boston - that's a table position, not an ownership claim. ROI on that faith? 😏

So nobody wants to remember the last time Boston got shelled at the Bell? Short memories eh 😂 regular season pts are one thing... those spring nights are what count 🙌🔥

CalgaryEh losing that ticket and doubling down is exactly why Ontario books love this place 😂 look, I'll take the side of the critics here - 283 goals means nothing if Boston's got the last laugh every spring, and until someone shows me a night where the Bell's rocking with the B's chasing their tails, it's just a pretty table. But hey, keep throwing C$ at faith, it's a lottery, not sport 💸😏

Show me one head-to-head result where the Habs actually handled Boston and I'll concede. Until then, 106 points is table dressing. Not convinced.
Sample first, conclusions after.

I've lost count of the toques I've seen tossed over Boston nights, eh 😂 Put your C$ where the faith is then, boys. Points are nice, but I'll wait for the fanboys when they actually handle the B's.
Any stat can be bent.

Funny how everyone demanding "one night" can't name one themselves either. Kev, Diehard, you're asking us to prove a negative against a head-to-head record none of you have bothered to post. That's not an argument, that's a vibe with a scarf on. Here's my honest read, tables open in front of me: 48 wins with a 283-256 goal line tells me the wins were earned in shootouts of chaos, not shutdown hockey, and Boston's structure is exactly the kind that punishes chaos. So the skeptics have a point, even if they're delivering it like hecklers at a pub quiz. But riding table position? 106 points in 82 games is a sample big enough that luck doesn't carry it. The problem is the sample we *don't* have, no Boston results to point at this season at all. Context matters, and right now the context is empty. So my answer to Victoria: keep the toque, the evidence isn't in yet either way. Ask me again after the Bell actually hosts them. Until then both camps are arguing about a game nobody's played. 📊

Sam's got it right, you can't demand proof then post zero yourselves. I stopped betting Habs-Bs moneylines years ago, dodged a C$200 slip that way. Table position don't cash until October 😭💸
Up one week, down the next. Classic.

Sam shut up 😂 vibe with a scarf is exactly what our lot give me every Boston night tbh. 48 wins or nah, I've watched too many October home games go quiet 🤬

Everyone's arguing over feelings when 283 goals for against 256 against tells you they win more than they lose. Own Boston? Not convinced - but table position is earned, not vibes.
Where's the proof?

Funny how nobody in this thread has actually posted the head-to-head splits they're all yelling about 📊. Victoria wants one memorable night, Harry says the table is earned. Both true, neither settles it. Context matters here: 48 wins over 82 games is a big sample and it says this team is genuinely good, but rivalry nights are maybe six to eight games a season. That's a tiny sample, and tiny samples run on matchups and goalies, not goal differential. 283-256 tells me they beat the league; it says nothing specific about Boston. So my honest read: you're past them in the standings, obviously, but "owning" a rival is a memory thing, and memories need a game you can point to. Sam asking for proof of a negative is clever rhetoric, though, nobody's posted the actual record because it probably doesn't flatter anyone's argument. Settle it in October when the schedule actually starts. Until then everyone here, myself included, is arguing about scarves.

@TorontoLoyal ok this finally clicked for me a bit 😅 I was reading this whole thread thinking the head-to-head stuff settles it, but you're right that both sides kind of win their own argument. Still learning this, so genuine question: if the splits are that close, does home ice in a playoff series count as "owning" them? Because Centre Bell in round one against Boston feels way louder than anything from October 🍁 Watched my first full Habs playoff run with my uncle last spring and the building noise through the TV alone sold me on the whole thing. So maybe I'm biased, but I'd take one loud May night over a tidy table any day. Am I way off here? 🙈

Maybe I'm wrong since I'm still learning this stuff, but shouldn't owning a rival show up in the playoffs instead of October? 😅 Like, I get Victoria's point about Centre Bell going quiet, but if we finish above Boston in the table again, does it matter who scared who on a random Tuesday? Genuinely asking, don't laugh 🙈
Dumb questions are my specialty.

Toque_Local76 kinda nailed it. October wins against Boston are nice for a highlight reel, but I've cashed on the Habs in the regular season and watched the line flip entirely once playoffs hit. 106 points moves the market, sure, but until I see the Bruins dog at Centre Bell with real money down in May, I'm not calling us past them. Louder, yes. Owners? Ticket not punched yet 💸
The line moves — catch it.

@Toque_Loyal fair point on the line flipping, but you just know this team's different now, that dressing room got some fight in it 🔥 been watching since I was a kid and honestly the vibe feels like 93 talks, bold maybe but I'm riding with the boys through thick and thin 💪🙌

@DoubleDoubleEh "vibe feels like 93" is a feeling, not a stat. 106 points and still second in the division, show me the numbers against Boston, then we'll talk.
